NCMCA Past President Doug Burton and Brandy Britt Thompson, an architect with the firm of Clearscapes in Raleigh, served as jurors for the October 13th competition, which required the team to design and model a hypothetical masonry office building. The competition is part of Professor Patrick Rand's Architectural Construction Systems class at North Carolina State University¹s College of Design.
The scholarship is named in memory of David, Randy, and Dwayne Sigmon. 2010 marks the tenth year for the NC State/NCMCA design competition.
2010 Sigmon Memorial Scholarship Masonry Design Award Winners

Shaan Hassan (left) of Carrboro, NC, Jayne Goethe (middle) of Wake Forest, NC, and Jeremy Leonard (right) of Raleigh, NC have claimed the NCMCA Sigmon Memorial Scholarship Masonry Design Award for 2010.
The North Carolina State University team of Shaan Hassan of Carrboro, NC, Jayne Goethe of Wake Forest, NC, and Jeremy Leonard of Raleigh, NC has claimed the North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Sigmon Memorial Scholarship Masonry Design Award for 2010 and will share a semester's in-state tuition as their prize.NCMCA Past President Doug Burton and Brandy Britt Thompson, an architect with the firm of Clearscapes in Raleigh, served as jurors for the October 13th competition, which required the team to design and model a hypothetical masonry office building.
